New Coding Professional | Hospital-Based Coding
This is an extensive course designed to give the coding professional the requisite skills required to enter the hospital-based coding profession and prepare the graduate to take the national certification (CCA - Certified Coding Associate) examination administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)).  

Students will learn how to properly classify medical data from patient records, review patient records, and assign numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure. Coding accuracy is highly important to healthcare organizations because of its direct impact on revenues and describing health outcomes.

New Coding Professional Hospital-Based course includes:

  • Course Length: 300 training hours + 80 hours of internship
  • Student attends class 4 hours each week for 12 weeks, then 8 hours [two 4-hour classes] each week for 38 weeks.  
  • Estimated homework time of 12 hours/week.

Upon successful completion of the coding course, students will be required to perform 80 hours of internship to be arranged at the time of graduation.
